Why Foundrax
Foundrax is the market-leading manufacturer of Brinell hardness testing equipment. It is the only company in the world to make a range of products covering everything from UKAS-certified reference blocks to National Standard-level calibration machines.
The company’s UK pedigree can be traced back to 1948 but its predecessor was in the steelworks supply business in 18th Century Bohemia! Every testing machine has been designed with an understanding of the rigours of steelworks conditions and Foundrax equipment has been field-proven in the most demanding industrial environments.
Foundrax is recognised worldwide for its expertise and has been influential in the development of hardness testing standards in ISO and BSI as well as ECISS. The Managing Director sits on the ISO hardness testing committee and is in regular consultation with European academic authorities. A new Head of R&D was appointed in 2022 to maintain the company’s ongoing research.
We offer a full range of Brinell hardness testing machines, providing market-leading automation of both indentation and measurement. In fact we invented commercial automatic measurement over 40 years ago and it revolutionised Brinell testing. You can read more about this technical breakthrough here. Our machines are known for their laboratory-level accuracy in steelworks conditions and their ability to keep performing reliably over hundreds of thousands of test cycles. The new Helios model was bench-tested over 300,000 cycles before launch.
Basically, nobody knows more about how to build a Brinell testing machine than we do. You can read more about the company here.

Our experience and capabilities mean we deliver value in the toughest environment: Your environment

Vehicles
30 Million+ parts tested

We help the defence, aerospace, rail and automotive industries deliver high reliability products for global security and transport infrastructure. Correct quality control and the ability to reliably isolate components which fail to meet specification is critical, given that the cost of failure can have tragic consequences. Our hardness testing solutions meet the strictest requirements and are supplied with UKAS certificates of calibration.
Oil & Gas
Flexible measurement solutions

Foundrax helps its customers to meet the increasing energy demands of the 21st century. We deliver crucial testing capability to oil tool producers and wellhead equipment manufacturers who work in all the major oil producing regions. In an industry where the cost of failure can be catastrophic, we work with companies who design and build critical components for offshore and onshore geosciences, drilling and engineering in both developed and emerging oil and gas regions.
Heat Treatment
Test solutions for industrial environments

We provide the heat-treatment industry with the ability to fulfil their Brinell hardness testing requirements. We understand that time is tight and running costs are high but output must remain of a consistently high quality. We continuously refine our hardness testing range to help our customers meet productivity and quality goals, on the shop floor.
Iron & Steel
Customers in over 45 countries

Foundrax machines have a direct pedigree going back 60 years and an industrial heritage that can be traced to the 18th Century. An understanding of the rigours of steelworks conditions has informed the development of the entire range of hardness testing equipment. Foundrax’s Brinell testing machines can quickly and reliably establish the hardness of steel forgings, castings and general iron and steel products both on the production floor and in the field.
