We invented commercial automatic optical indentation measurement in 1982, initially fitting the system into our renowned, ultra-heavy duty BRINscan hardness tester. Soon after we launched a stand-alone hand-held microscope – the BRINtronic.
Over the past forty years we’ve refined the BRINtronic system continuously and it remains – demonstrably – the best in the business.
Until now, however, every model in the BRINtronic range required an external processor, be it a laptop, PC or our own Linux unit (the BRINtronic-NEO).
The BRINtronic-RIVO is an entirely self-contained microscope, with all image processing on board, a bright rear screen and a completely dedicated algorithm which is even better at disregarding surface noise, raising accuracy and repeatability to even higher levels.
No external processor means that in day-to-day use there is no trailing cable, so no snagging, and no compromise on reach. It’s rugged and built for the steelworks, like every BRINtronic before it.
In addition to all that, the unit comes with a PC suite for calibration checks, uploading of test data, or just those occasions where a bigger screen is required.
Like all the BRINtronic range it assesses the surface quality of the test piece, indicates if the result is out of tolerance or the indentation is oval, makes 800 diameter measurements and gives the result in under a second.
Last, but not least, the algorithm is (like all its predecessors), intended to give the right answer or no answer.
