Foundrax was founded in 1948 and is the only company in the world to truly specialise in Brinell hardness testing equipment and accessories, providing you with equipment that is specifically designed to provide laboratory accuracy, even in the harshest of industrial environments: At one factory one of our BRINscan machines was hit by a fork lift truck and propelled through a brick wall. During the repair process the machine was found to still be within calibration!
Recognised as industry experts, we aim to provide all customers with an affordable solution that matches their exact requirements.

Brinell Hardness Testing
First demonstrated in 1900, the Brinell hardness test measures the hardness of a metal – and therefore its fitness for purpose – by forcing a ball-indenter into the material’s surface in a precisely controlled way. The width of the resulting indentation is then used to calculate the hardness.
Our Brinell Hardness Testing Machine Range
Here at Foundrax, we manufacture, service, calibrate and certify a full range of Brinell testing machines. The demands of metal hardness testing in the rigours of steelworks conditions has informed the design of every one.
Foundrax Brinell machines are designed for optimal functionality and value. We painstakingly examine customers’ needs and can custom-build machines for your exact requirements. There are huge, unique Foundrax Brinell hardness testing machines all around the World
Our Pioneering Work in the Development of Brinell Hardness Test Equipment
Foundrax can provide Brinell hardness testing machines for every application. Our equipment is rugged, straightforward to maintain and gives accurate, repeatable results. We offer automated indentation measurement on most of our machines, indeed we pioneered automated Brinell testing. You can read more about this here.
Our automated machines measure the diameter of each indentation hundreds of times in a fraction of a second and their accuracy vastly exceeds the requirements of international standards. We also offer the automated measurement system as a hand-held microscope and laptop combination in a ruggedised case, for use with simpler Brinell testing machines.
The engineers at Foundrax are always on hand to offer advice and support should you need to know more about the innovative range of Brinell hardness test equipment, so please call us today on 01458 274 888 or email us at sales@foundrax.co.uk to find out more.
